When compared to works like [[Serial Experiments Lain (Anime)]] or [[Ghost in the Shell (1995 film)]], Key the Metal Idol is far more [[humanist]]: not a single instance of [[AI]] appears throughout the [[OVA]], and most conflicts during the plot center around robots (and technology in general) being used by humans to [[exploit]] other humans and (quite literally) steal their [[life]].
